Sealing Your Wood-Frame Window Before you start, survey the window and surrounding siding, looking for cracks in the corner joins around the exterior of the window frame and in all nonmoving parts. Areas with peeling paint will need to be scraped and repainted. Remove old hardware that is no longer used. And remember to check the forecast; you’ll want to do this when you have two rain-free days.
