How to Seal YourW indows
WHEN IT COMES TO increasing your home’s energy efficiency, weatherproofing can make a big difference: Almost a third of your home’s heat loss stems from leaky windows. Installing Energy Star windows is the best long-term solution, but if paying $100 to $300 for each window, plus installation, is outside your budget, you can weatherize your existing windows at a fraction of the price. Filling, caulking, glazing and weather-stripping will seal leaks and keep in the heat, and they’ll only cost about $12.
